  • Cooperation and roleplay

One conversation.
Many roads.

Talk to whoever is nearby, inside the game. Negotiate, gather your group or answer a call for help. Roleplay begins at the encounter.

Proximity voice

Give voice to your character’s choices.

Who you meet changes the road.

Who will stay
for you?

When you fall outside an exempt situation, you have 60 seconds to be rescued. Without a rescue, the character’s death is final.

60

Seconds to be rescued

One last chance.
Someone has to act.

  1. The bell tolls

The fall opens the rescue window: sixty seconds, which a Prophet’s or an Elder’s Stabilize extends up to three minutes.

  2. The group reacts

A Bishop, Elven Elder or Shillien Elder leads the ritual: a Tear of Einhasad, six seconds of casting, a long cooldown.

  3. The scar stays

Whoever is rescued carries a permanent scar and a wound.

Sieges, Olympiad, arenas, formal duels and protected events do not cause permanent death. Outside them, killing another player has a price: the bounty turns the PK into a hunted target.

Danger
evolves too.

Monsters evolve by killing players. A defeat can leave an enemy more dangerous for the next expedition.

Sometimes, retreating is also a choice.

Understand the risks

In development: elite monsters exist on the server; evolution through player deaths is still being designed.

Whoever buffs
stays in the fight.

There is no NPC buffer. A buff is worth its full value while whoever cast it is nearby, alive and in the party; far away or truly dead, it drops to half. And auras only exist while the support is standing, paying MP every second.

Understand Presence
Inside the range, in the party, with the support alive: the buff is worth what it is worth in Interlude. Out of range for over 30 s, out of the party or support truly dead: 50%. It does not vanish. The aura is a toggle: it exists while the support is standing, in range and paying MP.BOND · 1500AURA · 900PROPHETHaste · fullMight · fullShield · fullOUT OF RANGEMight (weakened: 50%)

  1. Nearby, full value

The same strength as Interlude, while the support is within 1500 of you.

  2. Far away, it weakens

Thirty seconds of grace; then half the value. The icon turns grey: “weakened”.

  3. Protecting the support is the objective

Whoever holds the aura and the bond is the one the party cannot lose. With permadeath, that changes the whole pull.

Live on the server. Range, grace and percentage are starting values, adjustable in the beta.

Build it by striking.
Spend it by choosing.

Bladedancer and Swordsinger no longer stand around reapplying buffs. Every hit that lands fills a mark; with five, you decide: a longer dance or song for the group, or a finisher that burns it all as damage.

Understand Rhythm
Build · +1 per hitSingle-target strike · 4 s cooldownSecond damage strike · 8 s cooldown

Only on a hit. Auto-attacks, dances and songs do not generate.

Rhythm 5 / 5

Five gold marks under your name. Cap of 5; spending consumes the balance.

Dance or song · 1 to 5 points

Fixed strength per level; the duration grows with the Rhythm spent: 10 s per point. Veil and Refuge: 4 s per point.

Damage finisher

Dance of the Final Blade and Resonant Finale: instant, strength grows with the Rhythm spent, burns it all.

Stun, sleep, silence, death or 30 s without generating: the bar empties.

  1. Build it by striking

Two attacks of the class’s own, from level 40. Every hit, one mark. Auto-attacks do not count.

  2. Choose what to spend on

Two dances and two songs per person, lasting longer the more Rhythm you invest. Or the finisher.

  3. Lose it all if you fall

Stun, sleep, silence or death empty the bar. So do thirty seconds without generating. The tension is the point.

In testing: implemented on the server, in-game combat proof pending. Durations and cooldowns are starting values.

Your class. Your presence.

Eight support classes rewritten for Knell: auras instead of short buffs, bonds with whoever you protect and decisions in the middle of the fight. The other Interlude classes follow the server’s global rules.

See all classes

The “Revised in Knell” seal marks the classes already live on the server. The others appear in the index under the global rules.

Conflicts with clear rules.

Rewards for PKs

Your actions attract hunters.

The reward system turns PKs into hunted targets: the bounty grows over time and is paid to whoever executes the wanted.

Protected events

Fight without ending the journey.

Sieges, Olympiad, arenas and formal duels do not cause permanent death. Outside them, every fall may be the last.

Tools to live in this world.

An interface of its own inside the Interlude client. What is here exists and runs on the server: the captures below will be replaced by real images from the game.

Before you enter, understand the rules.

  1. Is Knell available to play yet?

Not yet: the project is in pre-launch, with no public opening date. Learn what it is about here and follow along with the community: the interest list receives the playtest news. Signing up records your interest; it does not guarantee a place or immediate access.

  2. How do death and the rescue work?

When you fall outside an exempt situation, your soul stays beside your body for 60 seconds. A Bishop, Elven Elder or Shillien Elder can contest it with death: the ritual requires a Tear of Einhasad, six seconds of casting and a long cooldown. Those who return carry a scar and a wound. Without a rescue, the character is archived forever.

  3. Is there PvP without permanent death?

Yes. In protected events, PvP does not cause permanent death. Outside them, killing another player has a price: the bounty system turns the PK into a hunted target.

  4. Do I need to know how to roleplay?

No. Roleplay starts at the encounter: talk to whoever is nearby, through proximity voice, the way your character would. Nobody is required to act; we only ask that you do not break other people’s scene.

  5. Which client do I use, and how do I install it?

Lineage II Interlude, through the Knell launcher: it downloads, updates and opens the game. The client carries the server’s own interface and does not work with other clients.

  6. Can I play alone?

You can, with more care: without someone nearby to rescue you, every fall is final. The town, the mail and the voice exist so you can find company before the next expedition.

  7. What is sold, and what never will be?

VIP and cosmetics. Never: items, rates, restoring a dead character, removing a scar or clearing a bounty. Nothing that touches the risk of dying.

  8. What language does the server run in?

The game texts are in English. Site and community in Portuguese, Spanish and English. The server is born in Brazil.
